There was an era when the past good times that we had lived happily were the matters of our memories only. With every new joy, those good times of past were being vanished from our memories and re-living them became so hard for all of us. Then the age of Art arrived and we all learnt to stock our memoirs in the form of paintings and sculptures. However, the boundaries of these methods were limited and hectic. The human culture was demanding more, then, in 1660’s the English Scientist Robert Boyle with his assistant Robert Hooke developed the first portable camera. This device was capable of capturing the events, thus, the humankind found their way to re-live their life. From the day of its inception, the camera has seen various changes in its style, performance, capabilities and looks.

Technology has revolutionized the concept of capturing live images. The earlier concept of producing permanent photograph was based on pure chemistry. In 1830, Louis Daguerre, devised the first practical way of producing permanent photographs. Today we are talking about the computerized photo imagery in the filmless picture taken by a device that is smart in electronic intelligence and in appearance – digital camera.
A digital camera takes video, still photographs, or both digitally. It records images on a light sensitive sensor. Instead of using a film, an arrangement of charged-coupled devices-light sensitive semiconductors, which stores electrical charges,-does the job. These digital sensors-composed of pixels -transform the light from the scene snapped into an analog signal which is then converted into a digital version. One electronic filtering system regulates color and other picture components. Another system reduces the picture. The image is finally sent to a temporary storage area and ultimately onto a memory card. Many compact digital cameras can record sound, video and still photographs.
The images are transferred to a computer where they can be modified, printed, attached to email, inserted in web pages, etc. The most significant advantages of a digital camera are its memory capacity and ability to screen the images taken on a tiny video monitor. Read more...

A new iSuppli report finds two significant obstacles remain before digital signage advertising can takes its place among other bona fide media buys by advertisers and ad agencies: a lack of variable audience measurement techniques, and a quandary on the part of ad agencies about how to get paid for placing digital signage ads.
The report, “Digital Signage Ecosystem Report,” by Sanju Khatri, principal analyst for signage and professional displays for iSuppli, outlines the opportunities for digital signage networks as well as the challenges that must be transcended before they realize their potential.

Digital storytelling is a huge area in education and is emerging strongly in the home and community sectors and more slowly in affiliate marketing. It has even evolved into digital scrapbooking.
Many of the videos on YouTube are presented as digital stories. My Squidoo lens has a two-fold focus – (1) to help people to turn digital photos into digital stories or digi-stories and (2) to promote resources that enable people to make money from their digital photos.
The catalyst for creating the digital-storytelling lens was my work over 5 years helping vocational education institutes in Australia to develop their online learning capacity.
So the original target was teachers but as the lens evolved, I came to understand that there was a much broader market involved, including community educators and affiliate marketers.
My digital-storytelling lens provides modules that offer:
* examples of digital stories from YouTube
* links on digital storytelling in education
* examples of digital stories in education
* digital storytelling in primary education
* digital stories dedicated to themes, e.g. community
* links to free software to create digi-stories
* links to free tools to use in making a digital story
* digital story mapping
* digital scrapbooking Read more...
